Keep in mind that all printers are different and offer a diverseness of settings and color specs. Information technology'southward non sustainable for me to create instructions for every machine and update. All suggestions, locations, and sizing are based in U.S. terms/locations/frame & paper sizes.
This communication and webpage is specifically for my prints and my art. If you purchase dissimilar artwork from a different artist, ask them how to print their artwork.
I know that press and how you choose to format a print on paper and in a frame adds to the artful of the fine art and your home. This is of import stuff and I merely want to say thank you lot for trusting in my art and listening to my stance on how to get the best from my fine art prints. With that, below are a few solutions and suggestions for press that I hope volition assist you in your printing efforts. Happy printing and enjoy your magical wall art.
Printing from a Abode Printer
PROS
Instant gratification, cheapest option, most convenient, don't need to worry well-nigh customer service, stay dwelling house
CONS/Risk
Supplies needed (Printer, Ink, newspaper, etc), perchance limited printing options and noesis
NOTE: If you lot are new to this or want to go it only right, consider doing exam runs on scratch/apparently newspaper and in grayscale before printing in color on carte du jour stock to avoid wasting supplies and being disappointed.
Let's Do This!
Paper suggestions
-
Cover weight or bill of fare stock newspaper.
-
Matte photograph paper
A lot of my customers employ sleeky photo paper which works great, too. In my humble opinion think the card stock/matte is cleaner and feels more professional person and more advisable for the style of my artwork.
printer settings
-
Set Fit/Fill to Fill Folio / Fit-to-page / Compress to fit
-
Set Paper Size to Without borders / Print to border / Borderless (if y'all're using trim marks set to 8.5x11. If you're Non printing with Trim Marks and your paper is cut to the desired size, ready to Paper Size to the same as the paper (5x7, 8x10, 11x14 upward to 16x20)
-
Set Presets to Photo / high quality / Cover Folio.
If you're not satisfied with the sizing of the artwork on the newspaper (or yous don't accept a borderless choice) try adjusting it manually with the scale functionality. Shifting it upward or down a few integers might solve any problems of shrinking or enlarging.
Size + dimensions
Pretty direct forward. Use the corresponding file and size with the frame size you would like to use.
If you would like to go for a larger size, the 11x14 file size can print upwardly to a 16x20 print.
trim marks + cutting
When cutting your print try using a metal ruler and an exacto knife or paper cutter for precision. Pair of scissors piece of work too, you lot simply have to be more careful and it can be dull and time consuming
TIP: Don't cut all the way beyond the paper. Or you'll lose your trim mark for the other sides. Cutting similar this… (this is easiest with a newspaper cutter or exacto knife)…
This is just an example of what it would await similar when you don't cut all the manner beyond the paper. The finished piece would be completely cut out, leaving a window in the left over paper.

Uploading to a Photo Site
(Shutterstock, SnapFish, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, etc)
PROS
User-friendly, delivered to you door or a quick option-up, easy
CONS/Risk
Conclusion fatigue from the plethora of options, Nichole not knowing which format is all-time.
Annotation: This section is specifically for photo websites, not printers (similar Staples, Office Depot, FedEx, etc). Keep scrolling if yous want info almost sending artwork to a printer.
You know the ones: Shutterfly, SnapFish, Costco, Walmart, Walgreens, Kodak Kiosks, etc. These upload sites are great and very popular, but I will say they aren't my favorite. They were originally intended for photos and keepsakes rather than art, only buyers keep going back to them because they are widely known and easier than going to in-person impress shops. They have a wide diverseness of options from photos to canvases, and even mugs and metal prints.
I have only purchased photo books and calendars equally gifts for family unit and have however to buy any samples from them of my work, and then I won't exist giving any suggestions in this blog postal service about what or how to society from these website. I volition say though, that I am not a fan of art work being printed on any type of paper resembling photo paper, matte or gloss. It feels off to me. Art (unless it's photography, obviously) isn't a photo and I think choosing paper and the right kind of paper matters along with quality ink and practiced printers makes a difference.
P.Southward. Some of my older prints (we're talking earlier this website sold anything) are in the wrong color specs. If this is the case, yous'll get an error message when you go to upload your artwork to a photo upload website. Come to me when this happens and I'll make sure yous get a converted file that works with the website.
Sending to Printers
(Local Print Shop, AlphaGraphics, Staples, Home Depot, Office Depot, FedEx, etc.)
PROS
Skilful service, help a small business, amend chance of talking with someone who knows printers and paper, more printing options
CONS/risks
Might get an unhelpful associate/unmet expectations, travel fourth dimension
NOTES: I'm non a huge fan of Staples. I'll spare your the details. But I dearest using local printers and AlphaGraphics (non an ad, I just like them).
Also continue in mind that some locations may need to verify and ask about ownership or permission of the artwork. If this is the instance testify them a receipt or order confirmation of your purchase if they decline printing, let me know and attempt a different location.
You've Got This!
What to say to the printers
Settings: Colour, Photo Quality/High Quality/Fine Fine art Print
Paper: White Carte stock Matte or Encompass Paper or White/Off-white Eggshell 80lb to 120lb. Ask them to cut to size.
My preferences
My favorite option/location would be go local. I like the local impress shops that are independent modest businesses. From my experience they value proficient customer service, have a better idea of what they are doing, more than willing to give you costless samples and gracious with mistakes.
Or just skip all that stuff and wait for a Impress Store opening.
Etsy FAQ
Hey Etsy Friend!
Thanks for checking out my shop and I'm sorry if you're having issues with your print or custom order. This page was created for you. This space was born out of common questions and issues brought upwards by your young man buyers. I hope you can find the answers yous're looking for, if non feel free to contact me here or via Convos on Etsy.
Q: My print won't upload to Shutterfly, Costco, Kodak photo kiosk, CVS Photograph, Walmart Photo, etc.
A: I have three solutions for you:
-
Print at home. This is the original purpose of my prints. Affordable and piece of cake-to-print decor with cut (trim) marks.
-
Achieve out to a local printer. Accept them print on cardstock with hi-res or photograph quality printing. I'thousand a big advocate for this #shopsmall #staylocal.
-
Convert your download from RGB color to CMYK color scale. Most online photo printing websites require that all upload file exist RGB color scale. My prints are CMYK (This is what abode printers apply) and this is why y'all are getting a file error. I am happy to convert your print for gratis. Simply send me an Etsy Convo or e-mail.
Q: I'm having issues printing with the borders (trim marks). How do I get rid of them?
A: The intent of my prints is to take them printed at home or at a local printer. The trim marks are to help guide yous in cutting the prints downward to the size of an 8x10 or 5x7 frame. I take two suggestions for you:
-
Use the 11x14 file to impress it. There isn't a border on this file so that should solve the outcome. Just because it says 11x14, doesn't mean you lot tin't use it to print an 8x10 or 5x7 photo.
-
Employ a photo editing software to get rid of the trim marks. I suggest Canva (complimentary), Gimp (gratuitous) or Adobe design software.
Q: I have an idea for a custom guild, are you open for that?
A: Usually the answer is yes. Bank check my instagram bio for updates or send me a convo on Etsy. If I can't practice information technology, I will help you notice another creator on Etsy who can. I also have a running list of print ideas from buyers and followers that is pretty full year-round, but I am happy to speed up the process via rush fee if you are eager to go your's done commencement.
Am I missing anything?

Purchasing it on Etsy is giving you lot permission to Use information technology (print, display, gift it in one case or twice), but does not give you ownership.
You may print it how ever you like (at dwelling, at a local print, through an online service, etc). As big or as small as you lot like. (the 11x14 tin print up to most an 18x24, if you want a larger size or dimension adjustment, buy my add-on service).

Do non claim whatsoever portion of my designs as your own (no tracing, or screenshotting).
Exercise not mass reproduce. And past mass I hateful don't be printing up 20+ and handing them out like candy.
Don't exist that guy
Story fourth dimension: Once upon a time I institute a impress of a Disneyland castle from a fellow Etsy Seller that stole my original line work that could not have been duplicated or coincidentally someone having the same thought at the same fourth dimension. This line work was a very specific minimal way and I created information technology on Illustrator in vectors. Information technology took a BUTT LOAD of work. I spent HOURS on this artwork that you now run into on my T-shirts today.
At showtime I was flattered that the seller thought my piece of work was then amazing that she felt like she could sell it ameliorate, merely then I got annoyed. I approached the her and told her to remove information technology or I would report her. I spent a whole day asking her a few questions trying to see if I misjudged her or if my artwork was being sold elsewhere with out permission. NOPE! She claimed information technology as her ain Iii TIMES! I was appalled! I chosen her bluff and figured out that she had traced it on her iPad later having purchased my print about a year ago, which by the way was the ONLY print she bought from me. Coincidence? I don't think so!
Moral of the story. DON'T BE DUUUUMB. Do your own thing! Aye creativity is hard work, only information technology's so much more rewarding when you do it. Steal like an creative person! Meaning, do information technology right. Pull inspiration and put a NEW spin on information technology. Don't do it similar a sleezy lazy thief. Don't trace or just copy and paste! That's lame! Don't be that guy (or girl)!
